Ron MayoWhen I was a kid, I remember watching a TV series called “The A-Team” (Created by Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo), which aired on NBC from 1983 – 1987. It was an awesome series that was eventually made into a movie in 2010. It was a show about four special forces team members who were sought out and hired because of their ability to work together and use each of their individual strengths to help the team accomplish their mission no matter how impossible it seemed. As a teenager I was captivated by the storyline and how every episode drew me in as the team had to work together and rely on each other to solve a series of problems to accomplish their mission. Although the team members were so different in how they approached the problem, it seemed like in the end all four of them were able to add something to the team that nobody else could. On the outside they looked like a group that could never work together, but somehow, they were able to trust each other and even rely on each other to create an outcome that no other team could.

At Pratt and LeFevre, we operate on the same concept of teamwork. We saw that most business owners were getting conflicting information from the different professionals they were talking to. Their CPA would try to structure everything to concentrate on tax savings. Their lawyer would make sure they had everything set up to protect their assets. Their financial advisor would tell them that they need to invest their money to grow and use insurance to protect their family and the business in case of an unexpected injury, illness, or death. Then the managers of the business would tell them that they need to invest their money into growing the business.

All four of the strategies they were being told by these professionals had some truth behind them. They all had pieces that are important, yet because their approaches were different, they were causing business owners more confusion. The business owners did not know which professional to listen to. They felt that they had to make a choice and they could only choose one or two of the options and deal with it. At Pratt and LeFevre we have found a way to bring the best parts from each of these strategies together to give our clients the best possible outcome. The team leader’s name was John “Hannibal” Smith. One of his quotes was, “I love it when a plan comes together!” We also love it when a plan comes together because that means that we have helped one more business owner get closer to the success they are looking for. I’ll end with this quote which the narrator would use on every episode and it applies to our A-Team as well. “If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.”
